The Heart of RISE: The Health Power of Gratitude

Nov 27, 2025

Gratitude
Gratitude energizes and elevates us. This Thanksgiving, I’m leaning into the heart and lightning bolt—connection, healing, and rising together. Excellence is rising… so are you. Read the blog and keep your momentum strong. — Sonja Stilp, M.D.

Gratitude is one of the most potent performance enhancers we have—no equipment, no subscription, no perfect conditions required. It’s the practice of tuning into what elevates us, holds us, heals us. In RISE philosophy, gratitude is movement. It transforms physiology, shifts mindset, and ignites the quiet spiritual fire that carries us through challenge, recovery, and growth.

As we step into Thanksgiving, I’m reminded of a simple truth: excellence is rising… and so are you.

1. Gratitude is Medicine (Your Body Feels It)

When we express gratitude, our nervous system softens, inflammation decreases, breath steadies, and the heart becomes more coherent and efficient. This is biology—and it’s beautiful.

Your body listens when you say “thank you.”
It listens even harder when you feel it.

Whether you're navigating injury, strengthening your resilience, or rising into a new season of life, gratitude acts like an internal recovery signal. It’s subtle, powerful, and available every single day.

2. Gratitude is Connection (We Rise Together)

This Thanksgiving, my hands form a heart—paired palms, a symbol of connection. That same gesture is mirrored in my practice every day: hands extended to support you, hands empowering you to heal, hands honoring the partnership that is the RISE journey.

Connection is spiritual athleticism.
It builds stamina.
It builds belonging.
It builds courage.

Just like the lightning bolt on my sweatshirt—a nod to ZEUS—connection is the electricity that moves through community, reminding us of our shared strength and shared humanity.

3. Gratitude is Momentum (Your Next Step Matters)

Gratitude isn't passive. It’s active—athletic in its own right. It moves you from scarcity to strength, hesitation to confidence, stagnation to momentum.

Practice gratitude like training:
steady, intentional, repeatable.

Take a moment today to acknowledge one thing—big or small—that has helped you rise. Let that be your fuel. Let that be your spark.
